If you weren't a writer, what would you be?
Let’s start by acknowledging that I’m living out my dream of being a writer. I wanted this and it’s amazing. Legit, I write exhibits for the Smithsonian, that’s amazing. But writing is a manifestation of my curiosity so I would pursue a life of discovery if not this. Maybe by being a paleontologist. Maybe an astrophysicist. The world as we know it, be it on our earth or anywhere in the observable universe, is so broad and full of wonder. I just want an excuse to explore it.
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
Women are incredible. Treat them well. Honor their perspectives. Listen listen listen. Also, it’s gonna go way better than you expect, be kind to yourself.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
It’s a funny question, I’m happiest when I know I’m in the fluidity of life. That sounds a bit new age-y, but so does the question, haha. When I’m consistently finding myself meeting the people I need to, having the time I need to, experiencing the moments I need to...those times when you’re just in your zone, in the flow of things, that’s when I feel happiest. It takes meditation. It takes recognizing when I’m out of sync so I can realign. It’s work to be happy. But it’s worth it. Also, dirty martinis, Spanish beaches and good conversations with beautiful people make me feel pretty good too.
