When we sat down with orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Colin Mudrick, the conversation once again quickly turned to music. An avid fan of a wide range of bands, right now Colin's playlist has a lot of Judah & The Lion and The Avett Brothers. But when he's feeling some old school claw hammer banjo, he shuffles over to Carolina Chocolate Drops. Colin is the brother-in-law of another huge music fan, Ledbury co-founder and CEO Paul Trible.

If you weren’t an orthopaedic surgeon, what would you be doing?

I probably would have pursued a career in bluegrass music. I think the fact that I am for the most part tone deaf and can play less than two songs on the banjo would have been minor obstacles, but not insurmountable.

What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?

Grow up! I know my 20 year old self wouldn't listen but I'd at least try. I was bit immature in my younger days and certainly could have used some prodding. That being said my family was incredibly supportive and somehow I ended up where I am today so I wouldn't trade it for anything.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

As cliche as it sounds, I can say that I am perfectly happy right now. I have an incredible wife who is way out of my league, a beautiful daughter (with one on the way) and the most rewarding job on the planet.
