Moving Forward Part 03 / Sweaters
We released our first knitwear collection a little more than two years ago and, as shirtmakers, we had one basic requirement for the collection: the standard we set for our sweaters needed to be as good, if not better, as our shirts. The search for that level of quality took us to a small town in the northeastern part of Italy just outside of Treviso. There we met Alessandro, whose family has been making sweaters since just after World War II. Sweater-making, like shirtmaking, has not changed much in the last 100 years. It still takes great wool, precise looms, and skilled handwork to turn out an exceptional piece.
There’s a long-term commitment to craftsmanship that generationally owned family businesses develop. This is ingrained in many of our partners and Alessandro is no exception. Thought and attention has been given to every detail, from sourcing the finest wools to keeping a close eye over the complete knitting process. Our sweaters are designed to be timeless and intended to last the wearer for decades, both in quality and style. This week, we will continue to share the stories of the men and women who make Ledbury products possible. Follow us on this journey here.
